Sal unfortunately suffered a torn meniscus in August of his year with The Five Stripes. After leaving Atlanta in January of 2019, Sal announced his retirement the following May.

In June, Sal joined with Benny Feilhaber to launch “BS the Podcast”. They’ve seen added Ike Opara into the mix to rename it BSI. I urge you to listen and follow along and they really do ask some great questions of their guests. https://bsithepodcast.com

Sal’s player retirement was short-lived as Landon Donovan came calling. Sal has been made the first signing and captain for USL side San Diego Loyal.

San Diego Loyal play in Torero Stadium in San Diego, CA. It has a capacity of 6,000 and was built in 1961. They are looking to build a new temporary stadium for the next 10 years holding capacity of 15,000 while they continue growing fanbase and look for something more permanent.
